What file formats should I send during the design process?

Sharing information on which file formats are best to share during the design process

When you're submitting a logo or graphic for your team gear, the format you provide really matters. We work in Adobe Illustrator (.AI) and rely on vector files to make sure your design looks crisp, clean, and ready to print.

Best file formats to success (Vector)

For smooth production and design edits, send us:

  • .AI (Adobe Illustrator)
  • .EPS
  • Editable .PDF created in Illustrator
  • .SVG

Vector files allow us to resize and edit artwork without losing quality, which is especially important when printing on fabric. If you’re not sure whether your file is vector, reach out! We’re happy to check.

What usually doesn’t work

We often receive files like:

  • .PSD (Photoshop)
  • PDFs from Canva or Procreate
  • .JPG / .PNG / .TIFF
  • Screenshots or pasted images

These are pixel-based or flattened files, which makes them difficult (or impossible) to edit or scale for print. Even a file “saved as PDF” doesn’t guarantee it’s usable unless it’s created in a vector program.

Using images as inspiration

If you have a logo or design in a non-vector format, you can absolutely send it as inspiration. These reference files help guide our work, even if we can’t use them directly.

That said, we likely can’t recreate it exactly, especially if it’s low-res or highly detailed, but we’ll get as close as we can while keeping it printable and clean.

Raster file requirements

If you’re submitting a PNG or JPG and don’t have a vector version, it must meet these minimum specs:

10" x 10"

300 DPI (dots per inch)

Raster file requirements or anything at 72 DPI (screen resolution) lose too much detail to be recreated accurately for print.

Unfortunately, there's no program that turns a low-res image into a print-ready design.

Whenever possible, please upload original files.

Not sure what you have?

If you’re unsure whether your file is print-ready:

  • Zoom in, does it stay sharp?
  • Ask your designer for the original vector file
  • Send it to us, we’re happy to take a look

If your team is working with us, we’ll do our best to recreate or clean up your design. Just know that:

  • It takes time - get in touch early!
  • We may need to simplify or adjust details
  • We’ll always aim to keep the original spirit of your design intact

Everything above applies mostly to logos, original illustrations, or any element you want to appear in your design exactly as-is. These require high-fidelity, scalable files to ensure they print clearly.

That said, we’re always happy to work from rough sketches, screenshots, or artwork references as inspiration. If you’re not aiming for a perfect 1:1 recreation, we can absolutely build something based on your ideas and vision.
