Sharing information about font choice for numbers and/or names, as well as information about where to locate and preview fonts that we can use as part of the design process.
It's a small but important choice during the design process as there are thousands of options when it comes to fonts.
We tend to suggest that a clear, readable, and bold, font works best, especially if your team is planning on playing in any large-scale official event (ie. any USAU, Ultimate Canada, or WFDF sanctioned event). Of course there are instances where you can have a bit more creativity (ie. for league or recreational play), too!
A great resource to browse and even preview font choice is the website www.dafont.com. On Dafont, you are able to browse and download font packages ready for us to use in your team's design. Spend some time browsing through the options and previewing the text from A-Z, and 0-9 especially, if you want to cover all bases and see what any combination of last name and player number will look like.
Some teams like to go basic and bold, with something like COLLEGE or BABELL, classic and timeless like BEBAS. Other teams might want to go for something that fits the style of their design more (could search in the Retro, Calligraphy, or Horror sections!).
Please ensure you are reviewing the usage rights on any font you are selecting.
There are of course lots of other ways to download fonts online, but whichever font you end up selecting for your design, we will need the .otf or .ttf file associated with it. If you aren't able to provide that, we will have to work on alternative fonts, as it's a requirement for being able to print. Please also note that if the font is behind a paywall, it will be on you to download and share the file with us.
